Pork Shares are a way for you to purchase home grown pork in bulk. Buying this way can help your family save money and worry less about shopping for meat in the future.

We raise registered Berkshire pigs. Berkshire meat is more delicate than your regular meat and has very good marbling. They produce excellent quality meat to stock your freezer with.

Deposits

Whole pig: $500.00

Deposits are Nonrefundable and go towards the total price of your pig.

Total price

$9.50/lb hanging weight.

(The final price is based off the hanging weight of the hog. A 300lb live pig will cost you roughly $1995.00) Payment for the pork share must be made in full prior to the pick up date from the processor. Payment plans can be available upon request. Payment plan must be completed and paid in full prior to the delivery of your share.

The exact price will depend on if you want a whole or half hog share and how much the pig weighs. This price DOES include *butcher fees. We process all of our meat with Malapai Meat Processing in Taylor. They are ADA certified, honest, and we like their work. Once it gets closer to processing time, I will discuss with you the specific cuts you would like. I will include 10lbs for a half hog share. Any additional cuts or sausage amounts that you request, you will have to pay for. We provide the meat to be wrapped in butcher paper. If you would like your meat to be vacuum sealed, that is an additional $.40/lb.

Butcher process and when to expect your meat

The cut list includes:

Shoulder- roasts and/or steaks

Spare ribs

Loin- pork chops

Ham

Sausage

Ground pork

Bacon and Jowl bacon

Hocks

Pork fat

It takes roughly 7-9 months after the hog is born for them to be ready for butcher. Once I drop off the hogs at the butcher, it takes approximately 2-3 weeks weeks to get the meat.

I will contact you 1 month before the processing date just to touch base. I will follow up with you 2 weeks before the processing date to discuss remaining balance and cut list for your meat. Once I am notified the meat is ready, I will go and pick it up and arrange a time with you that I can deliver it.

Additional Info

Hang weight refers to the weight of the pig after scald & scrape, head on, insides removed. Hanging Weight = 70% of the Live Weight. So, using the same pig at a live weight of 300 pounds ... 300 x 70% = 210 pound hanging weight.

For bone-in pork, expect NO MORE than 75%-80% of the hanging weight back as meat. For boneless, expect NO MORE than 65%-70% of the hanging weight back as meat.
