-WE ARE THE

CHRISTENSEN FAMILY-

Born and raised in Arizona, we are carrying on the tradition of raising our family where are roots began.

Farming hasn’t been in our family for several generations. The last time our family’s farmed is 3 generations ago when everyone had a homestead. Back then you had to grow your own veggies and raise your own meat to feed your family. We are going back to those roots; raising the food that feeds our family. This wasn’t a natural lifestyle for us. We had to learn many hard lessons to get where we are today and we still have so much more to learn.

We get asked all the time why we do it; why do we live this life.

Our answer is simple, “It’s one hell of a life!”

We traded our Converse shoes for cowboy boots.

Travis and Shohni met in 2009 and were married in August 2010. We immediately started our family, having 5 beautiful babies within 6 years. Our life was perfectly chaotic.

Growing up, we both played sports. Travis played city league sports and enjoyed off-road racing and everything that has to do with motorsports. Shohni played sports during high school and city leagues throughout the years with good friends.

Never did we think we would trade our Converse shoes for cowboy boots.

In 2011 Travis lost his job, putting us in a really tough spot. We were like most young married couples out there, living paycheck to paycheck. Travis worked out of town for the next 6 months leaving Shohni at home with a 17 month old and a newborn. This experience changed our future.

We started learning about sustainability and emergency preparedness. Sustainability, in all aspects, became very important to us. Travis began looking into farming and growing our own food and Shohni started learning about food storage/emergency preparedness.

10 years later, we are proud to call ourselves Farmers. We sell farm raised meats and dairy products in Arizona. We take pride in the products we produce.

In addition to farming, Shohni teaches others how to become self-sufficient. She wrote a book, “The Food Storage Guide” to follow along the online courses she teaches. This book and online course helps break down everything you need to know about food storage; making it simple, easy, and stress free.

The greatest unforeseen blessings that came from living this lifestyle was raising our kids around livestock. We couldn’t have ever imagined the way this would’ve affected our kids.

It has taught them

-responsibility

-respect for the land and our animals

-knowledge of where our food comes from

-the sacrifice it takes to raise livestock

-hard work

-dedication

-accountability

-thinking outside the box

-self-confidence
