2024 Whole Lamb Share : Grass Fed & Finished

$400.00

Before purchasing our amazing lamb, I’d love to share with you why our lamb is different from most! We are 100% grass fed and finished lamb operation. Our sheep are fed the best quality hay on the market. We have sourced hay from a Southern Utah farmer that believes in the same farming practices as we do. He grows a Non-GMO seed, He doesn’t spray his hay fields with any pesticides or chemicals, and He steam bales the hay. Those 3 things are super important to us and the quality of lamb we produce.

We believe that feeding this specific hay with added supplements of vitamins and minerals that are necessary for their health, the results are a nutritionally balanced, sustainable feed that creates a marbled meat that you will love.

Lamb shares are a way for you to purchase home grown lamb in bulk. Buying this way can help your family save money and worry less about shopping for meat in the future.

Deposits

Total price

$12.00/lb hanging weight.

(The final price is based off the hanging weight of the lamb. A 200lb live lamb will cost you roughly $1200.00 for a whole share.) Payment for the share must be made in full prior to the pick up date from the processor. Payment plans can be available upon request. Payment plans have to be completed and paid in full prior to the delivery of your share.

The exact price will depend on how much the lamb weighs. This price DOES include *processor fees. We process all of our meat with Malapai Meat Processing in Taylor. He’s honest and we like his work. Once it gets closer to processing time, I will discuss with you the specific cuts you would like. If you would like your meat vacuum sealed, that will be an additional charge. Vacuum sealing is not included in your lamb share. (Malapai charges $0.40/lb hanging weight to vacuum seal.)

I will be in touch with you about all the details and dates regarding when the lamb goes to butcher, cut list and pick up date.

Butcher process and when to expect your meat

It takes roughly 12 months to grow out a lamb from start to finish. I start taking deposits when we have roughly 6 months before the scheduled processing date. Once I drop off the lamb at the processor, it will take 2-3 weeks to get the meat back and delivered to you.

I will contact you 1 month before the processing date just to touch base. I will follow up with you 1-2 weeks before the processing date to discuss remaining balance and cut list for your share. Once I am notified the meat is ready, I will go and pick it up and arrange a time with you that I can deliver it.

If you have any questions, please email shohni@kbfarmandpantry.com.

Additional Info

Hanging weight refers to the weight of the lamb with hide and insides removed. Hanging Weight = 50% of the Live Weight. So, using the same lamb at a live weight of 200 pounds ... 200 x 50% = 100 pound hanging weight.

Most lamb cuts are bone-in. Expect NO MORE than 70-75% of the hanging weight back as meat. (100# hanging weight x .70 = 70lbs.)
